POLICY: FIREWORKS POLICY NO: 133007

PURPOSE: Revised: 01/08/2020, Revised: 09-08-2022
TO ENSURE THAT RESIDENTS AND VISITORS ALIKE ARE FREE OF WORRY AND FROM DANGERS THAT ARE POSED BY THE ILLEGAL USE OF FIREWORKS.
TO ESTABLISH A PROCEDURE FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE ILLEGAL USE OF FIREWORKS.
DEFINITION OF FIREWORKS
According to Pennsylvania Law, (title 35 P.S. chapter 3 13) any device consisting of a combination of explosives and combustibles set off to generate colored lights, smoke, noise, sparks and/or all of the above.
PROVISIONS:
It is against Camelot’s policy to set off any type of fireworks at any time, any place, or by anyone within the confines of Camelot Forest.
Certain types of fireworks such as: cherry bombs, M80’s, silver salutes, etc. are illegal according to federal law. Violators using such devices will be referred to federal authorities for prosecution.
Residents who know of violations of the policy are asked to report the incident to any Board Member or office.
If a resident feels threatened or in danger, they should call Pocono Regional Police who will enforce the Pennsylvania law on fireworks and issue summons to the violators of the law. Local police number 570-895-2400.
Camelot Forest reserves the right to enforce the above provisions and impose special fines to the property owners after notice and opportunity to be heard ($500.00 first offense, $600.00 second offense, $750.00 third offense)
It is unlawful for any short-term rental to set off fireworks and floating lanterns at any time under the Tobyhanna Township Short-Term Rental Ordinance

It is unlawful for any person, persons, firms or corporations, or groups of individuals to have or to hold public displays of fireworks, unless a permit is granted by Tobyhanna Township. (Ord. No. 544)
